Hainan Island Plans to Attract Overseas Talents

The most southern Chinese province of Hainan unveiled a plan to draw international talents through number or benefits, including exceptional compensation package.


The Island of Hainan is known for its long sandy beaches, clear blue sea and especially clean air. According to the plan, universities, hospitals, scientific research institutes and statutory bodies in s will reserve a number of places for high-skilled employees coming from countries all around the world. Qualified personnel will serve as legal representatives of statutory bodies, public institutions and state-owned enterprises.


According to Li Jing, an official with the provincial human resources and social security department, "talents will be offered an annual salary ranging from 300,000 to 800,000 yuan", which is around 37,500 - 100,000 EUR.

On June 1, China released a master plan for opening of a Hainan free trade port, with an idea of turning the island into a globally influential high-level free trade facility by the year of 2050.
